When her best friend disappears, Stella investigates—despite warnings from her police detective boyfriend—following a twisted trail that leads her through the city’s most dangerous and forsaken precincts. There she uncovers something more sinister than she could have imagined: a shadowy organization known as The Light, led by the enigmatic Father Gabriel.
As Sara struggles to understand her place in the strange world she’s awakened to—an oppressive cult demanding unquestioning obedience—and her feelings for Jacob, the husband she can’t recall and whose harsh and tender attentions confuse and beguile her, Stella risks all to discover the truth. But enlightenment always comes with a price...

Sara
My thoughts drifted to that night after service, the hunger in Jacob's touch and the way his lips had claimed my body. Just the memories made me tingle. Lying back on the bed, I held my side and sighed. If only he weren’t so worried about my ribs.
Courtesy of the truck ride yesterday, the injury was more aggravated then it had been. I’d tried hiding it. Shaking my head, I wondered if it was possible to hide anything from him. According to Elizabeth it wasn’t allowed. The way I saw it, I wasn’t lying. I was withholding information for the benefit of both of
us. By the way his breathing became labored and his body hardened that night at the clinic, I wasn’t the only one who wanted to make love.
It seemed as if it didn’t matter if I told Jacob what I was thinking or not; he knew. Somehow he always seemed to know, sometimes even before I did. Maybe it was because we’d been together so long.
If only I could remember how long.
The sound of the rising garage door pulled me from my carnal thoughts, and I covered my cheeks. With a giggle I hoped they weren’t as flushed as they felt. If they were, he would know what I’d been thinking . . . I shook my head. I didn’t want that conversation. Exhaling, I willed the pink away.
When I heard the garage door lowering, I stood and made my way toward the stairs. Wearing the boot on my right foot made walking with my cast much easier. As I approached the landing, I took a deep breath and visualized the stairs. Since I’d counted them multiple times, I knew there were fifteen steps. I might not have my sight, but I was trying to be as self-sufficient as possible. I made it only to the second step from the top when I heard his voice.
“Sara?”
“I’m coming down,” I called, taking one step at a time, cautious not to go too fast.
Even before I reached the bottom step, I knew he was there. When we went to service, I’d realized why I associated him with the scent of leather; it was his coat. When he wasn’t wearing it, just the right amount of aroma lingered around him. When he wore it, as now, the leather scent was overpowering. That, plus the sound of his boots walking and stopping on the wood floor, prompted me to stop on the fourteenth step. If I went one more, I was afraid I’d run into him.
“Sara.” His voice came from very close.
Gripping the banister, I tilted my face toward his. Smiling and hoping my cheeks had returned to their normal color, I replied, “Yes?”
“Did you hear the garage door go up?”
“Yes.”
“And what did you think that meant?”
“I assumed it meant you were here.”
“So you knew I was home and yet you chose to not greet me?”
What the hell?
“Answer me,” he demanded, his tone now too calm. “Why weren’t you waiting for me at the door?”
The thoughts I’d entertained upstairs evaporated. I knew this tone. I not only recognized it, but with everything in me, I wanted to avoid it. My heartbeat quickened and my mouth dried like the Sahara. “I was on my—”
Interrupting, he rebuked, “On your way is not there, waiting as you’re supposed to be. When I return, I expect to find you waiting for me, greeting your husband.”
The bubble of apprehension that had waned and waxed in my chest since I awoke nearly three weeks earlier began to grow. “At the door . . . wh . . . I’m sorry . . . I didn’t know . . . you didn’t tell me to—”
He grasped my arm, the harsh movement a stark contrast to the eerie calmness of his voice. “Do tell, Sara, are you blaming me for your forgetfulness?”
What the hell is his problem?
“I’m sorry,” I pleaded. “I’m not blaming . . . I didn’t remember. If you told me . . . from now on, I’ll do it.”
“Must I remind you of everything?”
“I’m trying to remember; I am. I’ll be there from now on, at the door, when you come home.”
“Perhaps you need a reminder?”
My body sagged and my knees weakened. The bubble within me grew and popped, filling my nervous system with dread. “No. I don’t need a reminder. I’ll remember from now on. Please give me another chance.” If it hadn’t been for his iron grip on my forearm, I might have fallen to the step where I stood.
If I had, I wasn’t sure if it would have been because of the sudden dizziness his tone induced, the bout of trembling, or that it would’ve enabled me to beg. It wasn’t something I was proud of considering, but to avoid his belt, at that moment, I was willing.
“Sara, go to the door.”
Inhaling more pleas, I nodded. When he released my arm, I stepped down and down again. Around the steps, past the closet, I found the door between the living quarters and the garage.
He was right behind me, his voice still eerily calm. “You may stand or kneel; the choice has always been yours.”
I swallowed the vile bile bubbling from my stomach. In that moment I couldn’t for the life of me fathom that merely minutes ago I had been having pleasant thoughts about this man. I also couldn’t imagine kneeling.
Who does that?
I brought my feet together, straightened my neck, and said, “I’ll stand, thank you.”
He reached for my chin and lowered it.
“This is where you are to be when I arrive, and if you choose to stand, your head will be bowed.”
“Yes, Jacob.”

Exclusive Excerpt
Damn, how was he letting a woman affect him in this way? There was no doubt that Grace was a sexy woman, and she did everything to stir up feelings of lust, but he wasn’t the type to get caught up in thinking long term. Long distance relationships never worked. He had to think of ways to keep this light, have a fun few months with her, and part as good friends. It always worked well with others, but she was so different and he was having trouble figuring out how he would ever let her go if he even had the opportunity to catch her.
He checked his watch again, his leg bouncing on the barstool in anticipation over Grace’s arrival. She had texted him letting him know they were running late, so he had sent the shuttle back to get them despite her protests. He wasn’t going to let her get away that easily.
Josh sat beside Evan and scratched under the stethoscope that hugged his neck. “I fucking hate Halloween,” Josh groaned as he drank from a bottle of water.
Evan smirked as he kept his eyes roaming the crowded bar. “Well, at least you made a little effort, Doctor McKenzie.”
“I’m not one for flash.”
“No shit, really?” Evan snickered. He tugged on the gear of his SWAT uniform he had borrowed from their props department. The camouflage pants and military green shirt were fine except for the heavy ballistics vest he wore. There was still no sign of her. He leaned over and nudged at Josh’s arm. “Listen, if you see Grace around other guys, keep an eye on her.”
“Other guys?”
“You know, just take care of her for me.”
Josh smiled slyly at Evan. “Shit. Zach was right, then.”
“What? I was actually right about something?” Zach approached with a drink in hand and gave it over to Evan.
“I’m not sure. What exactly is he right about, Josh?” He sipped on his Old Fashioned slowly.
Josh shook his head and pointed to Evan with his thumb. “This guy just asked me to keep an eye on Grace.”
“Boom! You owe me a crispy, new one hundred dollar bill, you fucker!” Zach punched Josh’s shoulder.
Evan stared in confusion. “You going to tell me what this is all about?”
“Zach said you had it bad for the little romance author next door. I just assumed you wanted to sample and get her out of your system. Didn’t think you were actually serious about her.”
“I’m not serious, guys,” Evan contended, trying to contain his embarrassment.
Zach grinned. “You’d never care if it was just someone you wanted to get out of your system. Right?” Evan sighed. “Guys, it’s not like that. Grace is a nice girl. I don’t want dickheads like Ben and Ryan bothering her all night.”
“Sure.”
“You’re one to talk, Josh. You still obsessing over Red?”
“Don’t call her that,” Josh grumbled, pointing to Zach with an intimidating look.
“You let Evan call her that.”
Josh puffed out his chest, crossing his arms. “Because I know he’s not lusting after her the way you are.”
“Dude, I haven’t even met her, you prick.”
“What woman doesn’t Zach lust over, Josh?” Evan chuckled as he put down his empty glass on the bar and stood up. “Anyway, just look after her, guys. I might be pulled away and I don’t want idiots bothering her.”
“Like they’re bothering her now?” Zach tipped his chin to the other side of the bar. “Grace’s been here at least twenty minutes. I thought you knew that though.”

She must now make an impossible choice that will determine if she will survive with her heart…or at all.

Excerpt:

What he really wanted to hear were the other words, the words I couldn’t give. He’d danced around it, too, though. He’d suggested he loved me, but he’d never told me outright. Those words stood so prominently that they’d become a barrier between us. Either they’d been a lie, a cruel response to my scheming, or they’d been truthful—a possible doorway leading to something else. Something more. Damn, how I wanted the more. Wanted it enough to brave broaching the subject. “You said things the other night, Reeve—” He jumped in, turning his head to meet my eyes straight on. “I meant them.” “Oh.” Oh. There was so much to say in response and yet nothing at all came to mind. And as wary as I was to fully trust him, I believed him. Many men had proclaimed their love for me—usually when I had my mouth around their dick—but it had never been sincere. The plethora of false variations had been enough to teach me that this version was the real thing. But Reeve had said he’d loved Amber that night as well. And I believed that too. “I want you sleeping in my bed, Emily.” Or perhaps I was wrong about everything, and his devotion was tied up in sex like all the other men I’d known. I considered retorting back something sassy about not always being able to get what you want. But I wasn’t quite sure that was an adage that Reeve understood. Besides, I wanted to be sleeping in his bed as well, and maybe I would be eventually. If it was really where he wanted me. If I was really the one he wanted there. I knew I should just ask—how do you feel about Amber now? What happens next between us? It was on the tip of my tongue, the questions preformed in my mouth when I decided to swallow them instead. Because I wasn’t sure I was ready to hear those answers—whatever they may be—and, in this moment, at least, I was what he desired. And maybe it was just an excuse to not have to think about her for a minute, to not worry about feeling guilty or like I’d betrayed her. As long as I didn’t know, I could blame my behavior on ignorance, and I could please him too. The swing rocked as I shifted to my knees. Ignoring the chill of the seat against my bare shins, I leaned forward and unfastened Reeve’s jeans. “This isn’t my bed,” he said, not moving to either help me or stop me. “It’s the best I can do right now.” He’d gone commando, a sign that he’d likely tried to sleep as well, then had thrown his clothing on when he found the effort futile. I rubbed my hands together, heating them with friction before I reached in for his cock. Just as I lowered my lips to his tip, he said, “That ‘right now’ insinuates that there will be a time that you can do more.” I didn’t want to answer, afraid of giving too much of myself away. Afraid that he wouldn’t like my reasons for not being with him fully or that he’d try to talk me out of worrying about Amber’s place in all of this. So I occupied my mouth in other ways that prevented talking.

ABOUT EASY FOR KEEPS:

Adam Spencer loves women. All women. Every shape and size, regardless of hair or eye color, religion or race, he simply enjoys them all. Meeting more than his fair share as the manager and head bartender of The Odyssey, a hot spot in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, Adam’s comfortable with his lifestyle, and sees no reason to change it. A wife and kids, plus the white picket fence are not in the cards for this confirmed bachelor. Until a beautiful woman, and her sweet princess, literally knock him on his ass.

Sarah Cox has just moved to New Orleans, having accepted a position as a social worker specializing in at-risk women and children. It’s a demanding, sometimes dangerous job, but Sarah is no shy wallflower. She can handle just about anything that comes at her, even the attentions of one sexy Adam Spencer. Just because he’s charmed her daughter, making her think of magical kingdoms with happily ever after, doesn’t mean that Sarah believes in fairy tales. But the more time she spends with the enchanting man, the more he begins to sway her into believing in forever.
Even so, when Sarah’s job becomes more dangerous than any of them bargained for, will she be ripped from Adam’s life forever?

Just when I’m on the verge of busting my own door down, I get it open, usher Sarah inside, and simply drop my keys to the floor, pin her against the closed door, and bury my face in her neck, breathing her in.
She plants her hands on my sides and fists my shirt.
“You smell so damn good,” I mutter and kiss the soft flesh of her neck. She’s pulled my shirt out of my pants and her hands are on my skin, and it’s pure heaven.
“Adam,” she whispers.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
“I’m going to need you to get naked now.”
I chuckle, delighted in her. I get the feeling that she hasn’t been with anyone in a while, but she’s not shy about what she wants, and that’s as much a turn on as her curvy body.
“I’m going to kiss every inch of you,” I say softly. My breath catches when she drags her hands down my sides and over my stomach. It’s a wonder I haven’t busted out of my jeans.
“I want a turn too,” she says, and that’s it. I need her. Need her. Now.
I push off the door and take her hand, leading her to my bedroom. When I turn to pull her to me, she rushes to me, and her hands immediately go for my jeans.
She’s in a hurry. When I glance down, her fingers are shaking, and she won’t look up at me.
She’s nervous.
We can’t have that.
“Sweetheart.” I catch her chin with my finger and tip her face up to look at me. “Sarah, this isn’t a race.”
“Seriously, get naked, and we can get to it.”
Get to it?
Under normal circumstances, I would agree with her 100%. I enjoy foreplay as much as the next person, but the main event is, well, the main event.
But I don’t want to rush this with her. I want to explore her, listen to her, smell her.
Savor her.
I grip her hands in mine and raise them to my lips, pressing a kiss to her fingers.
“We’re going to get to it, trust me, but we’re going to get there slowly.”

Excerpt Reveal for Haunt By JC Emery

                                                       Amazon: http://amzn.to/27L64iK

SYNOPSIS
Kings rule men. Queens rule kings.
Wyatt Strand is a hard man. He has hard features, speaks with harsh words, and has a hardened heart. Having served the Forsaken Motorcycle Club as Vice President, Wyatt is used to taking responsibility for his brothers, but when he’s handed the gavel everything changes. His brothers are now his men and the threat from the Italian mafia still looms in the distance. A president needs focus, but that’s nearly impossible when his old lady blows back into town and drops two very large bombshells on him.
Amber Wallace is a tough woman, but an even fiercer mother. She once told a lie to protect her unborn child that tore her away from the man she loves. And now, years later, she’s coming home to make amends. Wyatt’s changed, but the club hasn’t. Women are to be obedient. Unfortunately for Forsaken, Amber’s not about to let a few rules stop her from living the life she always imagined.
The Forsaken Motorcycle Club started a war with the Italian mafia and they’ve paid dearly for that choice. With a new president at the helm, the wheels are finally in motion to take down Mancuso once and for all. Even if it means taking the fight back to where it began.
Love is never more beautiful than when it consumes you.

EXCERPT 1
“Ran out on me,” he says. His voice makes it sound like he’s thirsty, so gravely and rough. “Last time you ran out on me you were eight months pregnant with our fuckin’ son. Don’t like seeing you leave me.”
“We need to talk,” I say quickly before he can reach me.
“You need to quit fucking leaving me.”
“Quit giving me reason to!” That’s not totally fair. It’s not exactly his fault that the Italian guys showed up when they did. It’s not one hundred percent his fault that Rig targeted Zander. But it doesn’t exactly matter, either. Ever since Rig, I’ve been on edge and my moods are fluctuating like crazy. I don’t like these feelings. Adding Wyatt to the mix turns my crazy into straight-up insanity.
Wyatt storms toward me, grabs me around the waist and pulls me against him. He tips my face up towards his. And all his gentle turns into something else entirely in the blink of an eye.
“Knock it the fuck off!” He screams in my face, so loud, but I barely hear the words.
The ball in my throat hardens and I’m forced to swallow it. My hands shake with an anger that I don’t expect. I don’t know why I’m so mad right now, but I am. Nervous, sure. Anxious, yeah. But mad? That one confuses me. I don’t dwell on it though, because the frustration becomes too much to swallow. I push him off me, angry and annoyed. I suck in an unsteady breath as we stare each other down. He huffs. My eyes fall to his lips and they stay there. It’s magnetic—the pull his lips have over me. Every time I look at them, I’m either desperate to touch them or I remember every vile word that he’s ever said to me. If I’m being honest with myself, even then, in those moments of remembrance, I still want them on me. Nothing ever changes that. I hate admitting that, even to myself, though.
I pull my gaze from his lips to find his eyes are on my mouth now. His tongue pokes out, drags over his rough lips. I could fall into this. I could let this happen so easily, but then we’ll end up right back where we started.
“You can’t kiss me. You’re going to hate me soon, so please don’t kiss me.”
EXCERPT 2
You told our son that we’re sleeping in the same bed,” I say accusingly.
“We are.” His voice is low, his breath heating my skin. I breathe him in only to wish I hadn’t. He smells like burgers and root beer—because that’s what he had with dinner, a freaking root beer—but underneath all of that is his spicy scent that can’t be from a soap or shampoo. It’s just Wyatt. I’ve missed it so much that at times it felt like I was suffocating without it. Like, if I couldn’t remember how he smells I’d just waste away to nothing right then and there. It never happened. God was never that generous, but it felt real enough that it could be a serious possibility at the time.
Wyatt slides his hand down from my jaw to my chest, laying his palm flat against my heart. His eyes fall closed and I swear, I think I’m watching him listen to my heartbeat. It’s crazy fast now with the way he’s touching me. His calloused fingers press so gently but determinedly against my bare skin. The scoop neck I’m wearing used to have a higher neckline before my kid make it her personal mission to work out by yanking on my clothes all the time. Now though, I’m grateful for Piper’s annoying yanking on clothes because I can’t imagine having his hand over a thin layer of cotton.
“I love you, you stupid woman,” Wyatt says softly. His eyes are still closed, prompting mine to shutter closed as well. I breathe him in and keep quiet. I shouldn’t give in to this, but I’m a selfish creature. I want my man back if even for a night. Wyatt presses his lips softly against mine. I move into him, but still he doesn’t remove his hand from my heart. Our kiss is soft and full of promise and hope and it absolutely slays me.
Hope is the death of all things.
“If you were done with me, with us, I’d know. Your heart wouldn’t be beating this hard. But it is. I’m a part of you, even if you don’t want me to be. So yeah, we sleep in the same bed.”
